knowledge able

i usually share the things deserving to be shared on twitter and facebook, but these ones are special. – “a human-powered discovery engine for interestingness, culling and curating cross-disciplinary curiosity-quenchers, and separating the signal from the noise to bring you things you didn’t know you were interested in until you are.”, as its curator puts it.
long story cut short: ever since i discovered it, it’s been my source of to-be-ordered books and to-be-watched documentaries. i must admit, this is a very special kind of procrastination.

– “the machine that made us“, a documentary on gutenberg’s typing machine produced by bbc, and presented by the one and only Stephen Fry. (if you haven’t found out about Stephen Fry yet, do google him, and cherish him, and devour his fabulous knowledge and his deliciously witty humour.)
i’ve written on some other occasion on the importance of gutenberg’s brilliant invention, and of the book itself; in a way, this documentary is a kind of reminder, and an encouragement – books won’t disappear. at least, not for now.
